How large a training subsidy a place gives for a trade is set by how urgently the trade is short of workers and by the cost of training, so the size of the subsidy shows whether your area is really short. When you read online that a trade pays so much a month, it is mostly the asking price on a job-listing platform or someone's own account. What you see are mostly the people who made money, and the numbers leave out working hours, commuting, occupational disease and busy and slow seasons.
