In plain words
Heirs can withdraw the housing provident fund (公积金) balance. It isn't in a bank account, so it is the easiest to miss. What is left in the personal account of the pension insurance can also be inherited. If the person died of illness, the family also receives a funeral subsidy and a survivor's allowance of 3 to 24 months. If the person died of a work-related cause, the three payments under work-injury insurance are paid in addition.
Mentioned in
- Name a specific person as the beneficiary on the policy, and remember to claim when something happens: within 5 years for life insurance and 2 years for other insurance
- Deregistering a deceased person's household registration has a legal deadline: before burial in cities, within one month in rural areas
- Don't treat death as a way to clear a debt: life insurance doesn't pay out within two years, work injury is not recognized, and debts still come out of the estate first
