In plain words
Of the women killed worldwide, more than one-third were killed by a partner, often the end of long-term domestic violence. Among women who are beaten in the same way, those who have been strangled are more than 7 times as likely to be killed later as those who have not. So call the police when you are hit, then go to the court to apply for a protection order (人身安全保护令). The court generally has to give an answer within 72 hours.

- When angry, don't vent by smashing things, hitting a punching bag or running a lap; slow your body down first
- Treat the quality of a relationship as a health account: argue about the issue, not the person, and don't insult or sneer
- If your relationship is stuck in repeated fights and cold silences, go to couples therapy together: waiting around will basically not fix it by itself
- Don't hit your child, and don't yell or call them stupid: children who are often hit or yelled at have more behavior and emotional problems
